Ryan Vaughn Manager

The Traffic Division is responsible for entering new cases, filings and court records involving traffic and DUI cases into the electronic case management system.

Traffic and misdemeanor first appearances are held Monday thru Friday at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 6C.

Traffic and misdemeanor trial call is held every Monday at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 5C.

Traffic and misdemeanor time-to-pay call is held every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 5C.

DUI Statutory Summary Suspension Hearings are held every Friday at 1:30 p.m..

The Traffic Division processes an average of 50,000 cases every year.  State, municipal and county police agencies deposit all traffic, DUI, and conservation citations in Sangamon County with the Traffic Division. Traffic Division clerks enter cases and pleadings into an electronic case management system, dispose cases with the order of the court, and report these dispositions to the AOIC and the Illinois Secretary of State.  The Traffic Division also accepts payments for traffic fines pre- or post-plea in room 405 of the Sangamon County Building.  Accepted forms of payment are cash, credit or debit cards, cashier’s checks, and money orders.

Personal checks are accepted from Sangamon County residents only.

Payment for traffic fines can be mailed as well, along with a completed appearance plea of guilty in addition to the payment.   Currently you can plead guilty only by mail.  The appearance plea of guilty and waiver can be found at the link below.  Payments can also be made electronically below.
